Marquette, MI January 25, 2017- The Upper Peninsula Economic Development Alliance (UPEDA) was pleased to be a part of the award presentations to chosen winners during the Operation Action UP Annual meeting. The winner of the UPEDA Non Profit of the Year Award was the Northern Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship and the Sam M. Cohodas Endowed Professorship at Northern Michigan University for gathering, sharing, and reporting community and economic data on the 15 counties of the Upper Peninsula. Since 2010, the Center and Sam M. Cohodas Professor have been collaborating with UPEDA and working with business owners, corporate leaders, economic development offices, regional planning agencies, educational institutions to keep track of what is happening in the communities and economies across the U.P. The data can help monitor local economic conditions, identify trends, provide market profiles for new, existing, and prospective businesses, and pinpoint new consumption, saving, investment opportunities across the Upper Peninsula.
The winner of the annual UPWARD Initiative Business Plan Competition was Vitality Chiropractic and Wellness from South Range. They offer a new level of holistic healthcare to Houghton and Ontonagon Counties. Services include a multi-faceted healthcare approach centered on chiropractic care. Chiropractic care relies on the bodies in-born healing capabilities to restore function with non-invasive techniques. Along with chiropractic care, nutrition, musculoskeletal therapies and education are used to help patients reach their optimal level of health.
Sarah Derenzo is the primary care provider. She obtained her Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa. She graduated at the top of her class with a Magna Cum Laude honors and recognition for clinical excellence. While obtaining her doctorate she pursued advanced education in neuromuscular therapies and leadership training.
The Mission of Vitality Chiropractic and Wellness is “Empowering and educating patients to direct their healthcare journey while providing individualized chiropractic and wellness care.”
